About the role
Amber Implants is a commercial-stage medical technology company with operations in the Netherlands and the United States. Established in 2018, the company specializes in creating advanced spinal implants to improve patient outcomes through natural healing and enhanced spinal stability. Its groundbreaking VCFix® Spinal System offers an innovative solution for managing various spinal fractures with improved efficiency and safety. The VCFix® Spinal System has proven significant clinical success, and it received FDA 510(k) clearance in 2025. Amber Implants is dedicated to transforming spinal care with cutting-edge technologies.
We are looking for a hands-on Finance Lead to take full ownership of the finance function and build it from the ground up. This is not a corporate role. You will be the person running the finance end-to-end, working closely with the founders and CEO, and playing a key role in fundraising and international expansion.
Key Responsibilities
You will own all financial activities of the company, including:
- Cash & runway management
- Maintain clear visibility on cash position, burn, and runway; proactively flag risks and support decision-making
- Financial planning & modeling
- Own and continuously update the financial model, including scenarios related to clinical trials, US expansion, and fundraising
- Accounting & reporting
- Oversee external accountants, ensure timely monthly closing, and maintain clean and reliable financials
- Investor reporting & fundraising support
- Prepare investor updates, board materials, data room content, and support due diligence processes
- Operational finance
- Improve visibility and control over expenses, invoicing, and internal financial processes
- Grants & project tracking
- Support financial management and reporting of grants and funded projects
- International structure
- Support financial operations across our Dutch and US entities, including intercompany flows and setup
- This role will take over the majority of finance responsibilities from the founding team.
Who We Need
Qualifications
- 4–8 years of experience in finance (startup, scale-up, Big 4, or VC/PE)
- Strong financial modeling skills and high attention to detail
- Hands-on and execution-driven — you are comfortable doing the work yourself
- Able to operate in a fast-moving, unstructured environment
- Strong sense of ownership and responsibility
- Clear communicator, able to translate numbers into insights

- People who prefer managing rather than building and executing
